Below is a list of supplies we like to keep on hand. NORMAL TEMPERATURE RANGE FOR MYOTONIC GOATS : 101.5 -103 Grocery store items: Farm Supply store items:
Bio-Mycin 200 (antibiotic).
Procaine Penicillin G (antibiotic, keep in refrigerator).
Vitamin B-Complex (Regular, or Fortified with Thiamin).
Epinephrine (for anaphylactic shock).
Probios paste (cattle type). Keep in refrigerator. OR "Live Culture" plain yogurt (as needed from grocery store).
Re-Sorb packet
Syringes and needles. Common Syringe sizes: 3ml, 6ml, 12ml. I personally like the luer-lock type.
Commonly used needle sizes are:
22G x 3/4 (standard liquids)
20G x 1/2 or 3/4 (thicker liquids)
Items that may have to be ordered: (see supply catalogs below)
A De-wormer, or you might find at a farm supply store.
Di-Methox 12.5% Drinking water solution. (Sulfamethoxine 12.5%) [For treatment of coccidea, respiratory and other problems].
Veterinary Prescription Items:
Flunixin Meglumine (Banamine) 50mg/ml
Thiamine Hydrochloride 500mg/ml
Epinephrine (for anaphylactic shock). Now by vet prescription. Have this item on hand when giving shots.
Other Items:
Lead tie (some farm stores). Non-choking type. Or a wide Nylon adjustable dog collar and leash.
Hoof trimmers (see Hoeggers Supply below. I like Big Brother’s Hoof Trimmers, the orange-handled ones work well too).
BarVac CD/T For yearly vaccination. Not necessary immediately, but if you choose to vaccinate, you will want to purchase this item at the time you are ready for it. Keep in refrigerator).
C&D Antitoxin (NOT the Toxoid) -keep in refrigerator.
*Note: goat weight tapes are made for Dairy goats, and do not accurately weigh Meat goat breeds.
