I think one of the most important things a person initially getting started is to look for and buy clean, disease free stock. You'll want animals that are CLA, CAE and Johne's negative, with no soremouth, pickeye or hoofrot. If you start off on the right foot, it'll save you an untold amount of headaches and economic loss.
